San Miguel Sheriff’s Department deputies continued their ground and air search Tuesday for two missing boys and the white pickup they were last seen with Sunday.
Anyone with information about Christopher Ihinger, 12, and Danny Eberly, 14, both of Telluride, is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 970-728-1911.
The two boys last were seen Sunday on 20R Road, or Dolores River Road, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. near the boat ramp, according to Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jennifer Dinsmore. She said several deputies are working on the case.
The boys are believed to be traveling in a white 2007 Ford F-150 with license plate number of 801-RBH. Dinsmore said the truck also had some body damage.
Christopher Ihinger is approximately 5 feet 4 inches, 130 pounds and has brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and pants and a black-and-yellow cap.
Eberly is approximately 5 feet 5 inches, 100 pounds and has brown hair. He also was wearing a cap.
Montrose Police Chief Tom Chinn said an all-points bulletin was issued for the boys and the missing truck.
According to Dinsmore, Aaron Ihinger, Christopher’s father, and Eric Wright, Eberly’s stepfather, brought the boys on the day trip but left them with the truck near the boat ramp while the men went rock climbing early Sunday morning. When the adults returned around 4 p.m., the boys and the truck were gone.
The two men had to hitchhike to Norwood, where they notified authorities about the missing boys at approximately 7 p.m.
Attempts to reach Aaron Ihinger and other family members were not successful Tuesday afternoon.
Dinsmore said the Sheriff’s Department has been conducting ground and air searches for the boys and truck. She said Tuesday the department had no other details to release about the investigation.
