Rose is the June Flower of the Month

Hello!

Today I will start to explore the rose.

This is a rose from the numerous gardens
at WaltDisneyWorld, Florida, USA.

I enjoyed taking many pictures there from our last trip, 2009.

I drive my nieces and nephews a little crazy when we go to the Denver Zoo.

I love to photograph the little things - like a bunch of flowers, or a single hibiscus.

A butterfly. A hummingbird moth. A spider web.

I take photos of the little wild rabbits,

and perhaps a peacock feather on the ground.

Oh, and I also take photos of the animals!

So they all know that if I drag behind, I'm just taking another photo,

and will catch up with them soon!

which means red.

Different colors of Roses

meant slightly different things.

Different combinations of roses,

or roses with other flowers

also meant differing things!

was a very complex language.

A pink rose meant 'friendship'.

A yellow rose meant 'secret

 admirer'

On a different web site,

it says that the yellow rose means

"Zealous".

and a red rose meant

passionate love.

The Language of Flowers - Pansy

Today is a bright and sunny day here in the Rocky Mountain foothills.

This always improves my mood.

Today I would love to share some pansies with you.

I realize I have done a previous post on pansies, so today will be a bit different.

This is a just a lovely water color.

But the idea is wonderful for home decorating as well.

Collect clean glass bottles.

                  Some ideas for empty bottles -

Soy Sauce

flavored vinegars

mushroom jars

flavoring extract bottles

soda in a bottle

really, anything you can find to recycle!

A variety of heights, shapes, sizes is what you are looking for.

Purchase from the store, or wander in your garden. Pick flowers with as long stems as you can get.

Place in bottles/jars with water.

What about white flowers with colored water?

tip:   Did you know to remove all leaves below water level? This will help keep your water clean and your flowers fresher.

How about a pretty teacup, or a grouping of 3 or 5 teacups?

These shorter vessels work terrific for short stemmed flowers.

okay, this one is violas, but it still matches the theme!
