Alabama Wiki Law Trumps Sharia Law

     Not that Alabama has any other pressing problems, but State Senator Gerald Allen of Tuscaloosa is the sponsor (the only sponsor) of the bill to make sure Sharia law isn't used in Alabama courtrooms.

     Mother Jones Magazine reports that some of the language of the bill Allen sponsored originates almost word for word from Wikipedia.

     It's not clear from the article if it was Allen or the Legislative Reference Service that used Wikipedia as a source.

     While Wikipedia is a convenient quick place to look for information, the "everyone is an editor" approach makes any given fact questionable at any given time. And that's not even getting into the questionable nature of the legislation itself, which was reported in The Anniston Star.

     The Mother Jones article says the national "movement" to block any consideration of Sharia law comes from a white supremacist who an earlier Jones article quotes as saying:

"...there's a reason the founding fathers did not give women or black slaves the right to vote."
         Allen's State Senate District 21 includes a lot of Tuscaloosa County, Allen graduated from UA with a degree in Education.

A VERY Expensive Extracurricular Activity

     The University of Alabama spends $31 Million on Football, matching Ohio State's investment. The New York Times has the Associated Press story of how much the 70 Bowl-bound schools pay for their programs.

     The cheapest prgram going to a bowl is also in the State of Alabama---Troy University---with a $5-Million dollar program.

In today's New York Times;

....a physical, sometimes brutal, brand of football.

Perhaps a get-well and 'sorry for the brutality' card for the Penn State team?
