wondering and wandering...

Usually when I sit down to blog I know what I want to write about. I'm either going to review a book or recommend a film clip or on rare occasions write a little vignette about something blog-worthy which has happened to me recently.
Right now I have over a dozen books I've read and drafted book reviews for, but I'm not ready to publish any of them. I found this new (to me) wonderful artist who I'd love to write about, but I haven't had the time to do the necessary research on him yet.
Lent is over and so is my journey with Father Neuhaus and Death on a Friday Afternoon: Meditations on the Last Words of Jesus from the Cross, the book Benedict's Book Club has been reading for the past six weeks. I finished it Easter Sunday evening, which was perfect timing.
I thought about writing about our evacuation Holy Thursday night when our neighborhood was on fire. Winds gusting in excess of fifty miles per hour turned a teenage prank into a nightmare for a huge section of Midwest City, Oklahoma. For us, the fires were as close as two blocks, but we were among the blessed. Not so our neighbors, some friends and members of our parish. But it seems wrong to blog about someone else's losses. The worst I had to endure was a night of wondering if I had a home. Considering I asked St. Michael to watch over it for me, all I truly was was tired.
So in the end, this is just an update, to say I'm still blogging, even though I haven't been. I wonder if I should blog. I wonder if I have anything worthwhile to say or if I'm not just wasting my time. Sometimes--and more than just occasionally--I think I don't have anything worthwhile to say. Sure, I read and review books, but I can do that just as well on goodreads. Do I need to maintain a blog too? Is it worth the effort?
In the end, I'm not sure. But then I'm not sure about a lot of things, so maybe that is the point of this blog. In this world where everyone seems so sure about everything, maybe it is worthwhile to have one lone voice crying out, "I wonder...?!"
Check out my books on Goodreads!

Kambakkht Ishq (Hindi: कमबख़्त इश्क़) is a forthcoming Indian Bollywood film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The project will feature Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles along with actors Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora in supporting roles. Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh will be appearing in cameos, reportedly playing themselves.[1] Originally scheduled to release in December 2008,[2] the film was postponed due to extensive production work and is now slated for a release on May 29, 2009.[3]

In November 2007, producer Sajid Nadiadwala announced that he had signed on actor Akshay Kumar to essay the lead role in his film[8] whilst later that month, it was announced that Kareena Kapoor was signed on to play the female lead.[9] It will be the seventh time that Kumar and Kapoor are paired together on-screen. Kumar will be reportedly seen playing a Hollywood stuntman in the film[10] whereas Kapoor, a high-society girl.[11] According to Nadiadwala, "It will be an international love story on a lavish scale."[9]

The project was originally expected to commence filming in January 2008 in Los Angeles, California with nine actors from Hollywood[9] but due to extensive pre-production work on the film, it was later shifted to May 2008.[12] Reports indicated that actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger was signed on to do a cameo and that the film would feature a performance from singer and actress Beyoncé Knowles.[12] Prashant Shah, line producer of Kambakkht Ishq in L.A. commented, "...We are in talks with Beyoncé and we have also received a letter from Arnold's office...Things will be confirmed shortly and we will be making a formal announcement when that happens."[10] It was later reported that both of the stars would not be appearing in the film.[6]
In March 2008, Nadiadwala announced that "this would be the first Indian film to be shot within Universal Studios."[13] However, when a fire broke out on the backlot of Universal Studios on June 1, 2008, the shooting of the film was expected to be delayed but the producer indicated, "...so far the area where we are supposed to shoot remains unaffected. So for now we are proceeding on schedule."[14] Later that month, the cast finally began filming for the project in Los Angeles, California, where pivotal scenes were shot at the Kodak Theatre and Universal Studios.[1] In August 2008, reports had indicated that the film was 50-60% complete and the cast would continue filming for the project in Venice, Italy.[15] After completing their overseas schedule, the production team later headed to shoot in Mumbai, India.[16]
During December 2008, reports surfaced indicating that Kumar and Kapoor would appear alongside Carmen Electra in a promotional music video for the film.[17][18] However in February 2009, Nadiadwala announced that Electra wouldn't be appearing in the music video and was replaced by the music group RDB. According to Nadiadwala, "It is not a music video but a song that we will use as an integral part of the film. It will occur close to the film's interval. It will also be the first promotional song."[19] The first trailer of the film was shown alongside the release of Jehangir Surti's film Aa Dekhen Zara (2009).[20]
It’s official: Kareena Kapoor is going Hollywood!
Kambakht Ishq also stars Hollywood heavyweights like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards.
Kambakht Ishq is a Romantic Action movie set in Hollywood. The story is of a stunt man, Akshay Kumar, who makes it big in Hollywood but fails to get true love.

shri rama navami, song/bhajan/aarti/ free download wallpapers, hanuman chalisa lyrics video, sriramanavami 2009, rama navami festival:
history of ram navami:
Sri-Ramnavami is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama. It occurs on the ninth day (navami). The festival commemorates the birth of Rama who is remembered for his preperous and righteous reign. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. Mahatma Gandhi also used this term to describe how, according to him, India should be after independence.
Ramnavami occurs in the month of March. Celebrations begin with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning. At midday, when Lord Rama is supposed to have been born, a special prayer is performed. In northern India especially, an event that draws popular participation is the Ramnavami procession. The main attraction in this procession is a gaily decorated chariot in which four persons are dressed up as Rama, his brother Laxman, his queen Sita and his disciple Hanuman. The chariot is accompanied by several other persons dressed up in ancient costumes as work by Rama's solders. The procession is a gusty affair with the participants shouting praises echoing the happy days of Rama's reign.

Putting lipstick on in cold weather
If you try to put on lipstick in cold weather, you'll find that it tends to feather, leaving unsightly cracked marks on your lips. Just in case you ever need to put on lipstick in low temp, do this tip: Cup your hands over your mouth and blow several times. Your breath will warm up your mouth. Lipstick will glide on smoothly.

How to apply mascara for a great look
To get perfect separation of the lashes and length, rub the wand from side to side, then up and out as you comb through the lashes. For a fairer lash: go back and roll the brush on top of the lashes while dragging through the lashes. This coats the entire lash, rather than just the tips.
Beauty > Makeup
How to have lasting eye shadow
One way to make your eye shadow stay on all day is to use an eye shadow base. A cheap alternative is Chapstick! Just put on your every day concealer/foundation and on top apply a thin layer or Chapstick to your eyelid, then simply put on your eye shadow. This will not only keep your eye shadow on all day, it will also make the color pop!
Beauty > Makeup
Vaseline is great for removing eye makeup
Vaseline makes a great and cheap eye makeup remover. Just smear some onto the area you wish to remove makeup from and wipe clean. This stuff works better than any eye makeup remover that I have ever used.

Beauty > Makeup
Keep eyeliner from smudging
To keep your eyeliner from smudging, go over the line with a powder eyeshadow in a matching color. You can also dip the fine tipped eye brush in water first, then into the powder and apply over your eyeliner. Both of these methods will keep your eyeliner from smudging.

Ways to remove shine from face
Usually after wearing makeup for a few hours your skin starts to become oily and shiny. The best way to avoid this is: 1) Before applying any makeup; use a toner to close all pores on face. 2) Apply a oil free moisturizer to the skin. 3) Buy oil blotting sheets which are used to blot and remove oil without messing up makeup or smudging!
Beauty > Makeup
Avoid lip liner lines when your lipstick wears off
When applying lip liner, outline your lips first. Next, color in your entire lips with the liner pencil. Apply your lipstick and gloss over the top. Your lipcolor will last longer, and when it does wear down, you won't be left with an obvious dark line around your lips.

The Shadow of the Bear

The best part of the book for me was the beginning because of all of the great quotes and intriguing ideas. It's been far too long since I've read any fairy tales and I'd forgotten the charm their gentle "spells' can weave in reminding us more is going on in Life than work, struggle and overcoming problems.
The author often speaks through her fanciful character, Rose. Here she is speaking to her sister, Blanche and Bear, "Have you ever felt there was something going on in life not everyone was aware of?" Pressed to explain herself, Rose continues, "As though there's a story going on that everyone is a part of, but not everybody knows about? Maybe 'story' isn't the right word--a sort of drama, a battle between what's peripheral and what's really important. As though the people you meet aren't just their plain, prosaic selves, but are actually princes and princesses, gods and goddesses, fairies, shepherds, all sorts of fantastic creatures who've chosen to hide their real shape for some reason or other. Have you ever thought that?" (p. 56)
I'll let you read the book for yourself to see how her audience responded. I know, however, what I think. I think she is on to something.
Although predictable and simplistic, it was good to be reminded by this sweet fairy tale that Good can triumph and there can be happy endings. A definite 'Feel Good' experience. Read and enjoy!
